Section I: Articles

Guideline to write an article

An article in this journal can be empirical, conceptual or a systematic literature review and should imply the following elements:

  • title
  • author(s) and affiliation(s)
  • abstract
  • 3-5 keywords
  • research question/state of problem
  • theoretical foundation
  • methodology
  • results
  • discussion
  • conclusion should relate to the intersection between inclusion and digital learning material
  • references

Word limits

An article in this journal should be between 20.000 and 40.000 signs. This limit includes references, tables, figure captions, footnotes.

Section II: Metareview

Guideline to write a meta-review

A meta-review analyzes and discusses voices of others on digital learning materials in form of an empirical analysis. The meta-review is based on several reviews, which reflect on the inclusion sensitivity of a learning material. These reviews should have been compiled by teachers, student teachers, educators, learners or parents and collected by the author themselves.

Word limits

An article in this journal should be between 10.000 and 30.000 signs. This limit includes references, tables, figure captions, footnotes.

The following guideline helps you to compile a meta-review.

Title and Subtitle

“__________: A Metareview of Learning Material Evaluations”

Abstract

  • A summary highlighting the purpose of the metareview, methodology and the overarching conclusions drawn from the analysis of multiple reviews. Max. 250 words.

Introduction

  • An introduction to the topic, explaining the importance of evaluating learning materials and the impact on educational processes and outcomes.
  • An introduction to the learning material and a brief description of the original reviews, including their scope, methodologies, and criteria for evaluation.

Methodology

  • An explanation of how the metareview was conducted, including reference to the framework/tool for analysis chosen, the selection of reviews, the criteria for inclusion and the approach to synthesizing the findings.

Analysis and Synthesis

  • A thematic analysis that identifies common findings and patterns, and the differences or inconsistencies between the reviews by providing a balanced analysis.
  • Discussion of the implications of conflicting findings and potential reasons for divergent results, including methodological approaches and their implications for the conclusions of each review.
  • Integrating the findings from individual reviews into a coherent narrative that presents a comprehensive overview of the strengths and weaknesses of the material, including the discussion of how the combined evidence contributes to a deeper understanding.

Discussion and Conclusion

  • A summary of the key insights from the metareview, including a reflection on how the choice of framework/tool affected the findings.
  • Interpretation of the findings in the context of broader educational research.
  • Consideration of the practical implications for educators and policymakers and suggestions for areas where further research is needed.

References

  • A list of all the reviews and other sources cited in the metareview.

Section III: Discussion

Please note that the "Discussion" section will only become part of the DILeMa with the second issue. This is due to the nature of this contribution format: Discussions offer the authors of materials published in previous issues the opportunity to comment on the feedback and thus open up the discourse as much as possible. However, we also welcome other, more freely formed contributions to discussions on the journal's topics. A Call for Papers will be published at the appropriate time.

All personal data is stored on specially secured systems at Bielefeld University and is accessible to the editors and the local system administrator. ORCID synchronization

This journal offers logged-in users the possibility of synchronising their own records with ORCID in the form of metadata (information on title, author(s), URL, DOI, etc.).
To use the ORCID functionality, one-off authentication and authorisation in ORCID are required. This can be done on registration or later in the personal profile (Create or Connect Your ORCID iD). With this step, BieJournals is granted the reading and writing rights required to synchronise the publications. The data thus transmitted by ORCID – the ORCID iD and the access token – are permanently stored in the BieJournals database, so that no re-authentication and re-authorisation in ORCID are required.

Submission of articles

By submitting an article, you agree that the article - after completion of the review process and if it is accepted by the editorial board - will be published under the license CC BY-SA. By submitting an article, you also consent to receive notifications - some of them automated - in the system and/or by email, which serve to inform you about the course of the submission process. During the submission process, it is also possible to send messages/emails via the system.

Bielefeld University supports the science policy demand for open access to scientific publications. In this sense, all published articles are presented freely accessible and can be accessed without technical hurdles.
In order to achieve a wide dissemination and visibility of published articles, publication-related data (metadata of published articles) are freely available for subsequent use via established interfaces (e.g. OAI-PMH) and published articles can be indexed by search engines. The same purpose is served by sharing the metadata of published articles with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the PKP index, and other subject databases. For the assignment of unique identifiers (DOI = Digital Object Identifier), the metadata are passed on to the registration agency DataCite. Published articles are transferred to the German National Library (DNBG) within the scope of the obligation to deliver net publications according to §§ 15 ff. DNBG to the German National Library (DNB) or made available to it for collection.
